The food is amazing! We have been a number of times and have never been disappointed. The curries are packed with flavour, pilau rice and naan breads are the perfect accompaniment. The dosa is an absolute must! Staff are always welcoming and friendly. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

My favourite Dosa spot in North London, very crispy and delicious, and the staff are always friendly and smiling!

Just had à scrumptious dinner. Friendly staff. Those who appreciate Chennai Indian food will like their food. (See photos for our order).

Fantastic food and value for money. Menu all halal (alcohol also served). Go for their kottu roti which is an authentic novelty item from South India, and my favourite dosa is plain onion or rava. Starters wise, give chicken varuval a go - perfect blend of hot and spicy. Family favourite is also chilli fried idli. Wife ordered a lamb curry but when this was not to her liking, waiter staff very happy to take off our bill and assist with alternatives. Booked table in advance but didn't need to even on busy Friday night. If you want a nice quiet evening, ask for and insist on restaurant side rather than live music/entertainment side which can get loud and irritating and can still be heard on quiet restaurant side. Staff friendly, helpful with menu and very amenable to this. Food served very quickly and all freshly made. Drinks slightly on expensive side (?2.50-3 for 330ml can), but not horrendous - tap water freely available. Pack away leftovers. Parking is okay in residential areas - go after core hours for free street side parking. In my opinion, one of the best south Indian restaurants in North/East London.

If you’re craving genuine Sri Lankan and South Indian cuisine, Chennai Spice is a must visit. The dishes here are wonderfully authentic, capturing the true essence of regional flavors. Whether it’s a classic dosa or a vibrant curry, every bite feels like a trip to the subcontinent. Service is consistently attentive and friendly, with the owners going out of their way to make guests feel welcome. However, keep in mind that weekends are especially popular, so I recommend booking ahead to secure a table. One of the standout features is their buffet experience, offered every Friday with live music that adds a lively yet relaxed ambiance. And if you’re in the mood to dance, don’t miss the first Thursday of each month when they step it up with a DJ, dance floor, and live music. Seating is comfortable but could use a more modern update to match the vibrant energy of the place. Parking is free on nearby streets, though it can be tricky to find a spot during peak times. Overall, Chennai Spice offers a warm, welcoming experience with rich flavors and an enjoyable atmosphere, a perfect spot for anyone who loves Sri Lankan and South Indian food!

I have been visiting this place for over 10 years. The food is really delicious and the owner is very polite and friendly. Most of the staff aren’t Indian but they are really nice people. If you really fancy some nice Indian cuisine then you must try this place for once at the very least.

Very friendly staff and environment. Quality food for the reasonable price. Will defo visit again. Try the Mutton/Chicken Devil and Special Masala Dosa. Did visit again- all the same and would recommend to try the spicy squid devil and the Mutton Kothu.

Very nice place, went with my friend and had a nice starter and veg lunch. Not bad, will visit again. 15-5-25 - Again visited with my friend. We had the Onion Bhaji and I had the Mixed Roti Kuthu, which is roti all chopped up and with chicken, mutton and seafood mixed in. It was very nice, they give a big portion so half of it was taken by me to have later, nice. They don't do Cappucino but they do South Indian style coffee. All in all a very nice restaurant, I thoroughly recommend it.
